Ductile Iron fittings without branches conform to class-K12. Ductile Iron fittings with branches conform to class-K14. For calculating thickness e= K(0.5 + 0.00IDN).

Allowable pressures for Ductile Iron Socket joint Fittings: For socket fittings, except tees internal pressure ratings (PFA,PMA & PEA) are equal to that of class K9 pipes see table given under class K9 pipes. For Socket tees internal pressure ratings (PFA, PMA & PEA) are less than that of class K9 pipes. Buyers are requested to contact ECL for exact values on type of anchorage to be provided at the site.

Quality Control

Electrosteel Castings Limited is manufacturing DI All Socketted Fittings conforming to BSEN:545/2002 and IS:9523/2000. All DI fittings are tested at works at the following test pressure as specified in BSEN:545/2002 and IS:9523. The fittings, which are thicker than the pipes, can also take higher pressures than the pipe, but are tested at the works at a much lower pressure as per international norms. The works test pressure of fittings is sufficient to detect any casting defects. Periodically type tests are done at the works to pressure more than the test pressure of pipes.
