Mr. Sunil Katial is a B.Tech. Electrical Engineer from Chandigarh, with 46 years' worth of rich experience in the Steel and Power sector. He started his journey in 1977, and had noteworthy stints in Companies like Steel Authority of India, where he served for more than 26 years. Mr. Katial then entered the private sector and headed a 1.3-million-ton Steel Plant in Nigeria. Thereafter, he took charge as the President (Operations), of Global Steel Holding Limited with Libyan Steel, in Libya. After that, he worked with the Uttam Group, where he became Director (Group Manufacturing). Mr. Katial became the CEO of ESL. Mr. Katial has been serving as the CEO of Electrosteel Castings Limited since 2018. After joining, he has been driving an 'innovation culture' within the team. Mr. Katial believes in 'people-centric management' and invests in employee engagement. He has introduced ideas to improve synergy within the team by tapping less focused areas, and bringing about synergies across locations and functions. A firm believer in a corporate structured organisation, Mr. Katial has been involved in improving policies and running several cost reduction initiatives. Mr. Sunil Katial has been a prime mover in augmenting profitability and improving process parameters. In 2020, he was appointed as a Whole Time Director, on the Board of the Company.
